Roland set the standard for electronic drums, so we took their acclaimed TD50KV kit and added a few things to create the TD50KVXS-SPDSX-K bundle. For starters, we replaced the standard TD50KV kick drum with the KD-220 full-size kick. Then we added an SPD-SX sampling percussion pad with an APC33 clamp to mount it.
At the heart of this kit is the TD-50 drum module with Roland's Prismatic Sound Modeling engine. The modeling engine allows you to create custom kits for specific performances. You'll have control over shell thickness and overtones, cymbal size and thickness, and virtual mic placement to control ambiance. Once you have the kit you want, you can add compression and EQ separately on each pad. And since we know that's not enough, you can choose from 30 effect types per pad to customize and tweak out!
The three-layer mesh snare head provides a natural feel and rebound so you don't have to adjust to the drum. A new multi-element sensor system tracks your strikes across the pad to accurately capture your dynamics and personal style. The snare is perfect for cross sticking since the pad can sense your hand and adjust accordingly, and it's great for rim shots too.
You'll appreciate the large crash cymbals and the 18" ride for their natural feel and response. The high-resolution multi-sensor design of the cymbal pads detects your sticking nuances across the cymbal surface. All of your dynamic techniques will be picked up, you can cymbal choke and even mute the bow with a finger touch. The VH-13-V Hi-Hat will also provide natural response and feel with an advanced motion sensor. You can change the closed tone by pressing harder on the pedal or play foot splashes. Go ahead, bring all your favorite Hi-hat tricks.
The feel of an acoustic kick drum is hard to replicate but that's what the KD-220 does. With Roland's air-damper mechanics and a full size 22" shell, you "move air" every time the beater hits the head. Acoustic players will love the familiar feel and natural resistance. In turn, If you've never played an acoustic kick drum, the KD-220 will quickly become your electronic kick of choice. Compatible with single and double pedals, the KD-220 allows you to play naturally, whatever your preferred style.
Getting the TD50KV set up and ready for sound check is quick and easy with a pair of balanced XLR stereo outputs and 8 individual balanced 1/4" TRS outs. You can connect directly to a PA system and easily assign the pads to any individual output while the stereo output is sent to a separate board for an in-ear monitor mix.
The SPD-SX sampling percussion pad brings even more flexibility and creative possibilities to the TD50KVXS-SPDSX-K. You get 9 sensitive rubber pads, 2 independent real-time control knobs, and 4 dedicated effect buttons. Multi-pad sampling capability allows you to create and assign a sample to a pad by simply striking it at the beginning and endpoints as the audio streams in. Once you have your samples you can apply real-time effects like filter, delay, and looping from the dedicated front-panel controls. And of course you'll want to mount the SPD-SX to your TD50KV, so we've included an APC33 mount to do just that.
