Roland’s classic JUNO series synths have been a keyboard staple of the rock, jazz and electronic music worlds for decades, and they’re especially well-known for their great vintage sounds, instant-access design, ease of use and exceptional value. Roland recently updated their JUNO line of workhorse synthesizers with powerful enhancements while keeping operation streamlined and simple for gigging/bar bands to working professionals with bigger setups. These versatile, intuitive, and highly mobile synthesizers are lightweight and easy to carry, and are thus made for creative musicians on the go.

Roland’s JUNO-DS61 also features nonstop operation, which enhances the creative flow, and allows for quick development of full arrangements. The sequencer is also convenient for supporting live performances with pre-made backing music or on-the-fly looping. Despite its impressive onboard sound set, it's even possible to load in WAV files from your personal library and play them from the keyboard, and the unit comes with an all-star rock/pop EXP-06 Studio Collection sound bank.

Enhanced editing controls are another highlight of this model, letting players dig in and customize with more adjustable parameters than ever before, allowing them to tweak patches and performances with detailed precision. Furthermore, the front panel provides an expanded array of hands-on knobs and sliders for creating patches and adjusting sounds as you perform, while the rear panel features jacks for connecting hold and expression pedals at the same time.

If you’re a solo performer or singer/songwriter, you’ll love the JUNO-DS61’s mic input, which lets you get great vocal sounds without having to carry around extra gear. There’s a dedicated vocal reverb, plus Auto Pitch for singing with the “stepped” electronic vocal effect popular in today’s music. The built-in vocoder is big fun too, allowing you to sing into a mic and control the tone and pitch via sounds played on the keyboard.

This synthesizer works great for computer music production, as well, and its portability and versatility lend themselves nicely to teaching labs or other music education environments. The integrated USB interface provides a solid front end for a mobile or studio recording setup, allowing you to record MIDI and audio data, including sounds from the mic input. There's even a DAW Control mode, for controlling your music software from the synth's front panel.

Both the –DS61 and –DS88 models can run on batteries or with an AC power supply.
